Popping Out Of The Bubble

I just became stunned moments ago when I came upon some news on a website related to the work I do with the Nia Technique and found out that a fellow Nia instructor just passed away suddenly.  I just spoke with this person on April 4.  We were going to plan a visit together in person. The news I read about her sudden passing was published on April 17 and I just read it today - April 23. Wow! I just can't believe it.

When matters like this happen, it can easily pop me out of the bubble of my current state of awareness, separating myself into a state of  "whoa...just what the heck AM I doing?".

Does whatever I was worrying about really seem necessary now? Nope, not really. What about all the work I've poured into my life goals; can I be lifted up and away at any time from earthbound toils, missions and aspirations no matter how heartfelt and commissioned with the best of intentions? Probably. Does whatever I was obsessing over in my thoughts and feelings now carry such importance? No. Is my motivation all for nothing? Hopefully not. Am I prioritizing right? Not always.

Popping out of the bubble is good. It makes you take a moment to check in with yourself. To re-assess and align your values with your actions no matter what outside messages and influences are bombarding you. It assists with creating movement towards awareness that can lead you down a path of further growth, self-discovery, spiritual awareness and other forms of well-being.

Yes, popping out of the bubble may be triggered by a variety of circumstances - some good, some not so good - but trust there is a gift to gain despite the perceived mess.

What Will You Do When You Grow Up?

Then (me as a child)
Now (me as adult)
Remember being asked that question at different points in your life? For some of us this same question still comes up as adults perhaps from sarcastic individuals who don't believe in your aspirations or even from our own selves as we make light of being in a place at this time in our lives where we pose this same question; all with a slight chuckle but with a twinge of angst.

In all seriousness, think about it. Somewhere deep inside you may be asking yourself this question because you now find yourself wondering "What have I done with my life?", "Why am I not happy?", or  "I really wish I became (blank) rather than (blank)", "Why did I follow pain instead of joy to appease someone else?", "What is this day to day existence about anyways?"

Maybe, just maybe......if you went back to that time in your life when you had no concept of worrying about anything else except BEING a child, expressing yourself through activities you naturally gravitated towards because you loved it, you were good at it and it made you happy that that would be your answer as to what you will do when you grow up.

Not a typical career path when you get "older"? Says who?.... "out there?".. so create it! Make it happen!  If more people would do what they love, it would support and nurture the greater good of humanity towards a more balanced state of health, well-being and prosperity for ALL. You were born with a natural gift and talent specifically to be shared with others.  You were not a mistake - you have a purpose.  We are not robots last I checked. We have feelings, emotions and a soul driven with purpose.

So, don't make life harder. Be a part of change by following your childlike spirit of authenticity by going back to that place of uninhibited expression and take complete ownership of YOU - now that is growing up!

Morning Thoughts on Living With Purpose

During my meditation this morning, thoughts about living on purpose came up - especially in regards to why living this way can often be a challenge, when in essence if we would do this, life would be so much more grand, peaceful and fulfilling.

This was off the cuff, so listen in for any little insights. I am on my own path to transition into living this way on a daily basis. The more consciously we move together in our individual efforts to walk our own paths, the higher we lift each other up and our world at large.

Soulistic Adventures is a creation from following my path. If I can help you in any way to uncover or embark on a new path of your own, that's what I'm here for.  Maybe we start with the body- your self-image, improving physical movement or nourishing it with proper nutrition or more rest. Maybe we start with the mind and emotions - clearing the clutter so that you can see WHO YOU ARE.  Maybe it's the soul - tapping into your inner source of strength and the heavenly realms that support and guide you.

You are perfectly designed as you are. You have everything you need right now.  All you need to do is REMEMBER.

Begin your Soulistic Adventure today and "be moved" into your path of Living with Purpose. Start today by requesting a 1-hour complimentary BE MOVED DISCOVERY SESSION by emailing me at Linda@SoulisticAdventures.com.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Looney Tune Kabooms and How to Handle It

Seconds before the kaboom!
Ever have a situation where you are feeling status quo, going about your business, doing what you have to do, and someone makes a comment that within a split second, your peaceful or neutral existence turns into a freakin nightmare of mish mosh, self doubt and defense mode - the world is awful, nothing makes sense, not the person your speaking to, not the goal you were working on, not even yourself and now everything is a waste!

Not me. Never happens. Just thought I'd ask. KIDDING!

What that comment does to you physically - if we could see it in slow-mo - I am sure would be hilarious!  It would be totally looney-tune like.  Your head would swells up like a balloon, face turn beat red, heart jumps out of chest, hair straight out on end, eyes huge, popped out and rolling around in the eye socket, smoke coming out of your ears, with tacks, darts and arrows flying out of your mouth as you try spitting out some kind of reply back.

It's not easy. It's hard to maintain control to have a normal conversation when you feel attacked or insulted especially if you were conscientiously working on something with the best of intentions.

Well, we all know we can't control others on the outside, so the real solution is how you learn to handle yourself and that takes self-responsibility and self-awareness.

So, here are a few tips I've found to work for myself:

1. NURTURE YOUR SELF-ESTEEM so that you stand a solid foundation of knowing who you are - your values,  your feelings, your goals, your intentions - and that you at least stay in alignment with this integrity to yourself in your actions. That way you are better not to take a self-defense mode in ANGER when an outside influence comes at you.  You will be better able to discern what this person is really saying before you take up that pitchfork in defense.

2. BE A GOOD COMMUNICATOR AND LISTENER - they go hand in hand. If you happen to excel in oratory arts but you don't listen - it doesn't matter what you say, the listener will only hear inflections, tones and make their own idea up of what is actually being said.  If you listen, but you can't get the right words out to explain yourself - you won't be heard right either and the argument will sustain itself.  So...do the best you can by setting intentions to become a good communicator & listener at the same time.

3. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TIME. If it becomes too much or too intense. Take a step aside to excuse yourself. Calm yourself down. Realize that if you are in reaction mode, you mostly likely won't make sense. So if it's better for you to step away, take a breath, take a walk to bring yourself back down from looney-tune mode to normal person mode, then do it. If there is no time and you blurted out what you did, come back later (better late than never) to have a down-to-earth conversation in normal tones to clear the air and to give the respect of effort to make sure both people are understood.

It's not easy being human dealing with all the issues we deal with, but we can always try our best by taking an active role in self-responsibility and self-awareness.  We are not here to hurt each other, so if we can do our best to come from a place of good intentions, it will certainly move us all in the right direction so we can focus on what really matters.

When The Shift Hits the Fan!

When you want something different in life, it takes an effort to create change.  When you want something huge to shift when so many others remain in what you are trying to shift away from, the road is even more challenging and sometimes....you just get pissed off!

Why?  It could be anything.  Could be someone close isn't really "seeing" you and so a slight comment will totally unfold all that you've done and you go right back into defensive mode with anger - that pain point trigger you thought you mastered... but guess what - that too needs some shift work.

Ah life... always a process.

If you are shifting, you have already put yourself in a vulnerable situation as you are stepping out and it takes courage.  So, you may find yourself  in this situation:  You are diligently doing the work and consciously taking the steps to manifest change, but you are not yet where you want to be or seeing results that will support your ability to maintain this shift completely at this point.  And, you already sense the fear yourself and are contemplating the need for alternative strategies to support your end desire, SO you don't need the reminder - thank you very much.

Boy oh boy... can the shift hit the fan!

In an instant, that shift you've been pouring blood, sweat and tears of love and nurturing into can splatter into pieces of crap - anger hitting the wall, exhaustion scattered on the floor, self-doubt on your sleeping cat's paw, blame on the ceiling, spite on the furniture, martyrdom on the light fixture.....REALLY?  Yes, really.

So what do you do?

Okay - so you may have already snapped back being in reactive and defensive mode.  Let it go! It was a natural reaction and you let it out. Bravo for not holding in your feelings!

Now, just pause and take a breath before reacting any further. Get centered and grounded. This gives you a chance to take in everything coming AT you so you can better assess the truth of what is actually being communicated.  Now, you can go into your own heart and mind and better assess what the best next step is for you to support your best interest and the goals that lay ahead.

Taking the road down a path to create something new, be it developing a new idea, changing behaviours to support your health and well-being, or being a trailblazer to support a completely different way of operating in this world is not for the weak.

So, when shift hits the fan... big deal... let it. Just clean it up and keep on moving! You are on your way.
