The Meaning of My Logo - Mindful and of Purpose

Since today, December 21, 2012, represents a significant day, largely due to the awareness around the Mayan calendar, I thought it would be nice to share what my logo represents.

My logo was consciously created to have meaning as my business was born out of the need to stand up and be who I am in this world and to live my life with purpose from here on out.  So, I sat down one day and drafted many renditions as I looked at my vision board for inspiration as to how to describe my voice visually.

So, I'll start with the Mayan connection.  As with many cultures, we humans always seem to find a need to associate ourselves with a higher source and to create a code of sorts (or symbols) to help identify the nature of who we are and to understand our existence and to find a connection to something bigger than us. I find that all very interesting.  So, when I look up to see what my birthdate reveals as my Mayan Code or Galactic Signature, I am Red Cosmic SkywalkerInteresting that within the definition, it represents exploring, navigation and wakefulness - hence, "Adventures" in Soulistic Adventures resonates perfectly - and note it happened naturally. No coincidences they say (wink).
Within my code
, I have what's known as Tone 13 which is represented by the 3 dots and 2 lines.  The definition of Tone 13 is about Universal Movement which is, indeed, my highest intention within my vision and fits me perfectly.  I love to move - to move my body, to move forward intellectually, to move forward with personal goals - just to keep moving.  I get bored easily, so movement is crucial for thriving, exploring, creating, and living in possibilities. I can't sit still too often without having the need to move on, to seek answers and create change because I don't always accept  things as they "are" because I believe we create what "is"  a lot of the time and at the end of the day - that responsibility falls on me to move it! To take action. Actions speak louder than words, right?

Below is a further detailed explanation about Tone 13 which you may find interesting.  If you want to look up your own, visit:  http://www.lawoftime.org/decode/index.php and just plug in your birthdate. Remember, it's fun to explore. This is just another means to gather information, but only you know inside who you are and how Spirit speaks and leads you. Use information with discernment.

Native Name: OXLAHUN [osh-la-hoon]
Qualities: wild card, unseen forces, unexpected change, open system, touch of destiny, interdimensional shift
The thirteenth tone calls forth the greater pattern. The hand of fate beckons and then catapults you free to journey home.
Thirteen is the ray of universal movement, the foundation of self within the foundation of Essence Self combined with the rhythm of the trinity. Thirteen touches you with the hand of unseen forces and radical change. It will catalyze into movement whatever resists change or is unexamined or stationary. You are being touched by fate, moved through identifications of self into open consciousness.
Olin, the Mayan goddess of movement, asks you to surrender to the perfection of the larger pattern of your Essence Self. From the perspective of surrender and trust, what movement is being called for? Pay attention to synchronicities and seeming coincidences that jump into your awareness. Thirteen provides the possibility of a radical “frequency shift,” offering you limitless new openings. Become a skywalker. Be open and flexible, allowing changing reference points to become dynamic allies. Open to the workings of destiny offered by universal movement.

Second, to mention is the letter "A", which I accented on purpose to represent and honor the "trinity".  Not only is the trinity referenced in my Mayan Tone, but it represents the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Past, Present, Future; Body, Mind and Spirit; Thoughts, Feelings, Emotions; and so many others.

The colors I chose represent the 7 Main Chakras known within the human body, and the placement of colors was intentional as well. All 7 colors surround and/or are within the trinity.  The 6th & 7th chakras are the two lines that intercept the trinity, binding highest intentions for the highest good. The purest form that leads my intentions.

RED
- BASE/ROOT/1st CHAKRA - Associated with Your Body, Touch, See, Smell, Taste, Physical Goals, Sex
ORANGE - SACRAL/2nd CHAKRA - Associated with Social Interactions, Happiness, Creativity, Pleasure
YELLOW - SOLAR PLEXUS/3rd CHAKRA - Associated with Activity, Learning, Excitement, Optimism, Self-Worth
GREEN - HEART/4th CHAKRA - Associated with Love, Family, Compassion, Growth, Support, Financial Stability
BLUE - THROAT/5th CHAKRA - Associated with Truth, Beauty, Purity, Enlightenment, Self-Expression, Communication
INDIGO - THIRD EYE/6th CHAKRA - Associated with Seeing more than meets the eye, Intuition, Creativity, Self-Responsibility
VIOLET - CROWN/7th CHAKRA - Associated with Spirituality, Self-Knowledge, Teaching, Inspiration, Artistic Expression

Lastly, the logo is balanced out with 9 letters on each side of the "A" accentuated with the chakra color green for HEART and chakra color BLUE for throat...which represents speaking your voice from the heart. My business is to represent purely from the heart, expressed through many voices of expression.

So, there ya have it!  My business is created out of the purest intention to connect with Spirit to bring forth and manifest Universal Movement towards the highest good for us all.  I am purely a vehicle to assist with manifesting change.  My desire and intention is to help others do the same through the visions and gifts I can offer in my lifetime.

I started my day today with laughter. It truly is a fun way to get the oxygen flowing and to clear the head.  Nothing like waking up with worry already on the mind or some strange dream affecting your morning.

Today's laughercise was performed on the floor.  I laid down on my back and brought my knees into my chest.  From there, it just let loose. This is a common exercise in Laughter Yoga.  It really helps release tension and enable the laughter to flow.  Think about it...when you get a good belly laugh going, don't you bend over holding your stomach? This position does that for you and that's why the pathway to laughter really opens up in this position.

Give it a try!  Warning:  Beware of feeling great.

5 "Sense"able Ways to Deal with Holiday Consumerism Madness

Get Back To Your Senses During the Holidays

Is this you during the Holidays?
How much do we really need?  I mean honestly.  Every year the bombardment of consumerism comes at us earlier than the year before.  Isn't our economy still floundering and aren't we all feeling the pinch?  If we fall to the lure of believing everything we hear, then why are we also running out the door and buying, buying, buying? It's confusing, isn't it?  I refuse to believe that we are all mindless individuals, so why have our senses become de-"sense"itized with this consumerism madness we experience every Holiday Season?

It's sad to see the news reporting how people line up the night before to get into a store and then, heaven forbid, witness people stampeding over each other to grab this stuff.  Have we all gone mad?!  Where is the common sense here?  Is this stuff going to make our lives better?

I know I look like that lady above some days because I get frustrated and overwhelmed by all of this in my face.  Could be that I walk through it every morning on my way to work in Manhattan down 5th Avenue and through Rockefeller Center, but no matter where you live, the craziness is there.

Here are just a few thoughts of mine to share that may help get your senses back during the Holidays in case you share the same feelings as I:

1.  Listen to your own voice.  What messages are you listening to?  Who said you had to buy that?  Who said that was good for you? Who said this is how it has to be?  Listen to your own voice and determine what's right for you.  Don't believe everything you hear. Trust your inner voice.

2.  Be tasteful.  Watch out for buying a tasteless gift that has nothing to do with anything other than fulfilling some requirement of  "I've got to get a gift."  Often the simplest gestures are the most meaningful.  If overburdening yourself with time commitments, tastily decline an invitation. It was nice to be included, but you know better than anyone else if you are overdoing it and risking your well-being.  Follow-up at another time when you will be able to be more present. (ha! get it)

3.  Take a step back and look around.   Before stepping into the madness of the holiday momentum or if you are already caught in it, step back and be still.  Notice the beauty that already surrounds you and ask yourself, what do you really need?  How do you wish to partake in the holiday season and then create the experience that's meaningful and true to your needs, values and desires.
.
4.  If it doesn't smell right, leave it alone.  You know what I mean.  If someone is selling you a song and dance and your picking up the smell..... walk away.  Stay true to your instincts.

5.  Engage if it feels right.  Does it touch your heart? Does it make you feel warm and fuzzy inside or provoke a fond memory from the past.  Don't deny yourself to feel good.  Enjoy and live in the moment, but you decide based on how you feel.
Juggling the holidays with your senses grounded.

The most precious and meaningful things are often intangible.

The Art of Hugging A Tree - 6 Easy Steps

Time out!  Life has been crazy.  It's time to reconnect to inner guidance and what better way to do that than by BEING IN NATURE and HUGGING A TREE!

I love trees. Trees are a perfect representation and symbol of being grounded as well as connected to spirit. The roots are deeply embedded within the earth providing stability, the ability to manifest, absorbing nutrients while their branches reach towards the sky absorbing nutrients of light and connection and expression to life.  It's a perfect system. They are the flow of life. We pass by trees everyday.  They are all around us staying true to themselves, minding their own business, giving us so much just by being.  Do you ever stop to REALLY notice?

I wish they could talk, as I'm sure they could provide us with so much wisdom.  If you ever watched the movie, Lord of the Rings, my fantasy mind imagines it would be something like that!  Cool!  I'd go for a ride in one of their branches while they shared wisdom and guidance, helping me to change the world.  Ha! When I'm down, they always bring me great joy and connect me to what matters in life.  If I could hug a mountain, I would, but a tree is much easier and will have to do for now.

Okay....Here is my 6-Easy Step Guide to the Art of Hugging A Tree (sprinkled with  a little humor):

Hint:  The best things in life are free.

Step One
Center yourself - taking time to silence the mind and to connect with the elements of nature through your senses.

Step Two
Approach a tree with respect and begin to play peekaboo - to establish playfulness and trust.

Step Three
Have a serious moment of deep communication - don't hold back - ask the questions, cry if you have too, let it out.

Step Four
Embrace and embody the love, comfort, kindness, loyalty, compassion, strength and wisdom of the tree.

Step Five
Open your eyes - You are now connected and grounded - AAAAAAHHHH!

Step Six
Rejoice! - Give thanks and gratitude to our beautiful world we live in with a renewed spirit of being grounded and connected to ALL.

DON'T WAIT!  Get out there now and get yourself grounded and connected to your senses.  We need you well and it's time to be YOU in this world.

Let me know how it goes.

Your Dream Fund: Finding Money to Launch, Develop and Grow Your Business

Follow Your Heart...
If your Soulistic Adventure brings you to a realization that you want out of the matrix and want to start your own business, then check out the above for some helpful information.

Life is too short.  There is no reason we have to settle for "less than".  That is what gets us all into a mess.  Yes, it takes hard work, but wouldn't you rather be working from a place of love, from honoring what's in your heart and soul and then learning how to make a living doing what you love.  YOU CAN DO IT!

....and the money will follow.
Honestly, I think the world would be a better place if we simply lived by way of our GIFTS, not by what the world has mandated.  Be careful of group thinking as we too often get pulled into something that truly does not resonate with ourselves.  Stay strong and true to yourself.  Listen to your senses, get back in touch with what matters to you and how you need to live with integrity to yourself.

It truly is common sense, so buckle up and simply start charting your path back to YOU.

Got A Plan?

I don't know about you, but I can't stand when politicians repeatedly say "I got a plan", or "We got a plan".  To me, they are just flapping the jaw without really taking action; just saying what it takes to get re-elected and it ticks me off.  I seem to recall the old saying "actions speak louder than words"... so show me the action!

As hard as it may be, when I decide to turn my attitude around and take a look at how this applies to my life, I ask myself:  "Do I have a plan?"

1. Am I all lofty in my thoughts, dreamy and being too idealist to the point where I might be kidding myself that I actually do have My Plan to move myself forward in whatever area of my life needs it?

2. When I say I have a plan, do my actions, words and thoughts match up with My Plan?

3. When I start losing focus, do I reassess, adjust and continue on My Plan?

4.  Have I committed to My Plan in mind, body and soul?

Just thoughts to ask yourself as you get bombarded by life all around you.  What is truly in your heart and soul?  What matters to you most and do you take the steps to maintain you own plan for your life and well-being?

Forget about outside influences and if they truly have a plan.  What's more important is your plan for your own life and then taking action that is in alignment with what means most to you.

If we could all follow our hearts and take action with integrity, together, we can create a beautiful world that is available to all.   I think that is a good plan.

What's your plan?

To the adventure,

Got Baggage?

Who likes to pack for a trip?   Not me.  I love to travel no matter what time of year to see knew places and to explore new adventures.....BUT, the packing part is for some reason a real drag for me.  I always leave it for the last minute - delaying the torturous task as long as I can, then staying up for hours deciding on what I think I may need to wear!! Silly....but ugh!

Weighed down by emotional/mental"baggage"
Well, how about that other baggage?  The kind you would not be upset if lost, in fact, you would LOVE to have it lost.  You know, the baggage that is invisible to the eye, but weighs you down mentally and emotionally and ever so heavy on the soul.   The kind that puts a cramp in your style, keeps you pointing fingers at others, makes you stay in pain choosing the same patterns of behaviour so you can't move forward, endlessly stuck in the sludge of being the victim either knowingly or not.  Anyone out there know what I mean?

Well, I was a part of the "I Got Baggage Club" for a long time.  I didn't always realize that was what was holding me back or getting in my way of moving towards the things I wanted.  However, as time moved on and through consistent and persistent searching and seeking to understand the patterns, the source, the reasons, the awareness, and the help to heal and move myself forward, I let that baggage go!  It is lost, and I never want to claim it back.   Instead, I choose to fill my body, mind and spirit with compassion, love and understanding realizing that at every single moment, I have control over my own BEing.   I can't control what comes AT me, but I can control the way I choose to maneuver in my life and THIS is what is freeing and very powerful for any individual.
I'm baggage free!!!!!

Once you get in tune and honor your self in all ways - taking responsibility as to how you nourish your body, mind and soul - then you are able to set the baggage burden free and truly live with much more happiness and joy and open yourself up more freely to contribute and enjoy the world we live in and share with others.   You can participate with and contribute to the world on another level - adding an element of positive value rather than contributing to more pain, anger and hurt and frustration.  You are important.

Is this a perfect practice?  What's perfect?   Do you slip and get that unwelcomed knock on the door with the airport security guard dropping off the baggage you thought they lost?  "Dag nabbit! (ha)", you say.  "I thought I was done with that."  Yes, baggage can come back a-knockin, but the more you become aware and take responsibility, learn the lessons you need to learn and heal within, the less time the baggage has a hold on you and the more quickly you are able to move forward.

Got baggage?

Then I suggest get moving and start doing the work it takes to LET IT GO!  Shake it off, cut those strings, lose it some where and be done with it.  Life is meant to be lived fully - NO BAGGAGE REQUIRED (who needs those extra fees anyways!!!)

To the adventure,

Keep on Truckin

Remember this?
Love this old tag line '"Keep on Truckin".  Saw it everywhere in the 70s, but I still use it today.  Especially when I put myself out there - really stepping into some old personal fears.  For a long time, I would gather information, keep getting more education, create many wonderful ideas in my head for no one to see but myself, or take courses here and there, but would shy away from "stepping out" and sharing it or giving it... simply because, it was scary or I never felt I was good enough or knew enough yet..... yet....yet......but....but... but...  Ya get the picture?

Well, I'm stepping out now!  Is it uncomfortable at times? Do I feel vulnerable? Do I feel like I'm being judged?  Do I judge myself?  Do I not get the feedback I was hoping for?  Do I wonder if I did it right?  Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.  But ya know what.... I  keep on truckin.

There are days when I look like this

beat up & exhausted

            or this....
what did I do or how do I do this?
But I figure, there is a lesson in everything I do.  Basically, in every moment.   I struggle with my internal voices at times, doubting myself and my efforts.

hmmmm...doubting.....
pondering

I pause at moments, I re-think, ponder, brainstorm, and take note to assess and decipher feelings from reality.

contemplating

I contemplate.

asking for guidance
But honestly, I feel deep down that I believe in what I'm doing and that I truly want to make a living doing what I love and love what I do... and when I connect with "up above"....

....I feel in my heart that the joy and purposeful living I strive for and want to pass on to others is the ultimate win/win.

So, to snap out of it, I make a few phone calls to get moving again.  This helps me get out of my head and reconnected - keeping the energy flowing.  Before you know it, I'm back in action with new ideas, new connections, new plans, new goals and new strategies.

So, afraid I taught my Nia class too fast, too slow or forgot my moves? heard crickets when teaching a Laughter Yoga class as I realized I was the only one truly engaging in the exercises? gave a free health consultation and the person was not ready to commit to moving forward?  made a great alliance contact and then they don't follow through?.... DO I THROW UP MY ARMS AND SAY FUGHETTABOUTIT!

peace!
Naaawwww.   I remind myself to take a chill and peace out.  All is good.  Rome was not built over night, right?!   Perseverance, hard work and following my heart is my voyage.   So, yes, KEEP ON TRUCKIN....believe in yourself, your abilities, your heart and go for it!   (and invest in a good pair of shoes)

HAHAHA!

How about you?  What has your experience been with stepping out and building your dream?

on my way - being true to my heart

On a Wing and a Prayer

Birds of Prey Event at Brewster, NY - June 3, 2012
Just what exactly does the phrase mean "on a wing and a prayer"?  It means that you’re in a desperate situation and you’re relying on hope to see you through.

Aha! And research has showed me that it actually comes from a famous American World War Two patriotic song, with words by Harold Adamson and music by Jimmy McHugh. It tells the tale of a plane struggling home after a bombing raid.

Well, I'm not here to write about war; I'd rather focus on hope and celebrate life.  That is why our many birds of prey come to mind - or shall we say "birds of pray".   For some time now, I have been a big fan of these fabulous winged creatures.  They are so magnificant.  They may be predators, but only to survive, taking what they need, not anything more, keeping the natural balance of life in harmony.

They are strategic, they are wise, they are strong and very observant before they attack.  They fly high in the sky with such freedom, gaining clarity with incredible vision.  They are full of mystery and they project a sense of confidence that is admirable.

I recently went to a Birds of Prey Day at Green Chimneys in Brewster, New York to learn more about these fabulous creatures and to see them up close. What a fantastic day that was.

Hawk - Brewster, NY
Not only do I admire their beauty and skill, but I am curious about their innate capabilities.  The fact that they also have spiritual symbolism attached to them is also intriguing and entices me even more to understand them or to take notice.  In fact, since ancient times, because of the Birds connection to the sky, they have been thought of as a supernatural link between the heavens and the earth.

In my own life, I can say that birds have showed up on a couple of occasions during the passing of a soul.  When my first cat, Dexter, passed on, a group of birds (if I recall correctly they weren't pigeons but more like sparrows) showed up on my New York apartment window sill the morning he passed.  Never before or after, did a group of birds like that flutter at my window sill peering in - just a single bird or two only minding his or her own business.  On another occasion, when my father passed, I saw two large owls hooting high in the trees down in Florida just a day or two before and then afterwards, was astutely keen of birds (especially his favorites including the blue jay) and butterflies (many monarchs - I know not a bird of prey, but still symbolic) appearing everywhere for several months afterwards in abundance or in not so common places or situations.  Coincidence? Maybe - maybe not.

Middle Eastern and Asian cultures often speak of birds as symbols of immortality. In East Indian myth, every bird in the world represents a departed soul, and in Christian art, birds often appear as saved souls.  I personally think it is a beautiful thought and tickled at the possibilities of this being true.  Some of my favorite birds of prey include eagles, falcons, hawks and owls.

Eagle - Birds of Prey
Event in Brewster, NY
EAGLES have always been connected to the sun and heaven; a powerful symbol, it signifies resurrection and rebirth.  The Eagle is said to have the ability to soar, until it is lost to the sun, and, according to Aristotle, it can gaze into the blazing midday sun, without going blind. For this reason, it has come to symbolize Christ and those who are just; or stand for the virtues of courage, faith, and contemplation. It is also from this symbolic interpretation, that the lectern, from which the Gospels are read, is often given the form of a Winged Eagle.
The Bible identifies the Eagle as a sign of God's power over the wicked.  Eagles are associated with far-sighted vision, ambition realized and desire fulfilled. It is also associated with lightening storms and thunderbolts.  In Greek and Roman times, the Eagle was referred to as a God or "The King of Birds". In Roman art, the flight of the Eagle, was described as the soul ascending toward heaven.
Falcon @ Birds of Prey Day
Brewster, NY

FALCONS have always been a favorite companion of the hunter because it was thought never to close its eyes in sleep. Therefore, in some cultures, the Falcon became a protective guardian.

Egyptians associated the Falcon with the Eye of Horus. Horus himself was believed to appear in the form of Pharaoh's falcon or as a "falcon-headed god". He could see everything at once because one of his eyes was the sun and the other was the moon. As the embodiment of Horus, the falcon wears a double crown.

When he represents the Egyptian God, Ra, he wears a disk on his head. A human-headed falcon is a symbol of the human soul.  In Asia, the Eagle hunted and killed demons.  In Christianity, the Falcon came to symbolize the Holy Spirit and represented a pagan who was converted to Christianity.

Hawk - Redhawk Council Indian Pow Wow
Sep 2011
HAWKS are revered by many cultures around the globe for it skills and prowess as a bird of prey. Regarded by many as a sacred messenger, said to aid 'clarity of thought'. Hawk is said to offer powerful protection. This bird also has links to the belief systems of Ancient Egypt, Norse and Celtic Mythology.
Owls - Birds of Prey Day - Brewster, NY
OWLS are remarkable hunters.  These birds are said to offer us 'silent wisdom' and help us to connect with our "hidden talents and knowledge that is otherwise not obvious to us". Owl energy can offer us the ability to understand the signs and signals around us. Not all cultures regard this bird as a "good omen", some regard them as "harbingers of doom and symbols of death'"

COOL, RIGHT?!

So, next time you look up high in the sky and see a winged creature soaring gracefully in flow with the wind or camouflaged within the tree limbs, instead of panicking and relying on hope that it doesn't swoop down at you, take a moment to revel in their beauty, think of their innate wisdom and skill and how it parallels to you or decipher the meaning or lesson to learn from them.  Do I need to be more careful with how I am treating myself?  Do I need to look more carefully and change a bad habit that doesn't serve me?  Do I need to let go of emotional garbage to move on and soar to new heights?  Do I need more faith or a belief system to understand my purpose or to be happy?  Do I need NOT be afraid?

Maybe you did not cross paths by accident at all!

Just notice.

YA GOT THAT!
(ha!  this is a teeny tiny screetch owl - as big as a large man's hand)
